2nd Pomeranian Fly-Tying Workshops – a heartfelt THANK YOU!
On 11–12 April 2025 in Gdynia Orłowo, we once again showed that the Polish fly-tying scene is in excellent shape – perhaps better than ever.
Right next to Queen Marysieńka’s historic carriage house, in the building of tuBaza Gallery, we met for the second time to tie not only flies, but also new friendships, exchange experience and recharge with genuinely positive energy.
It was a true feast for fly-tying enthusiasts.
On the first day, the tables produced pike flies, smaller streamers, saltwater flies, nymphs and classic wet and dry flies – there was something for everyone. Although the plan was ambitious and we were theoretically due to finish at 16:00, the room was still full at around 18:00. Nobody wanted to leave – and that is the greatest compliment we could receive.
The workshops were led by some of Poland’s best fly tiers: Hubert Janeczek, Michał Greszta, Tomek Kuczyński, Marcin Gregorek and the undersigned. At the same time, Piotrek Stopczyński supported us with his equipment knowledge, while a magical trip to the Falkland Islands was described – as always with passion and excellent photographs – by Rafał Słowikowski.
Although the weather decided to mock our enthusiasm – Sunday snow really was excessive – it did not stop anyone from improving their casting outdoors. Casting clinics led by Michał Greszta and Piotrek Stopczyński attracted great interest despite the cold and wind, and the participants showed that a fly rod is not merely a summer toy.
We were delighted to see so many young participants and women at the vices. If anyone still believes fly tying is a niche for a small group of bearded men, we invite them to our workshops.
This community is alive, growing and doing extremely well.
Thank you all – participants, instructors, partners and friends – for your commitment, smiles, questions, help moving tables and thousands of inspiring conversations.
Special thanks to our girls, Belcia and Maja, as well as Natalia and to our tuBaza host, Mateusz, for the organisational drive and for handling everything multimedia around the event.
We already invite you to the 3rd Pomeranian Fly-Tying Workshops – 18–19 April 2026!
We are planning more, better and with additional attractions, using everything we have learned. The ideas are already there – a lot is going to happen.
See you there, and thank you for being with us!
