Pike caught on a pike fly of the Nayat baitfish type – Pike Terror

Single-hook pike flies

Baitfish-style streamers for fly fishing and spinning

A classic baitfish on a single hook, built to create a clear profile without excessive material. The result is a large but lightweight pike streamer that casts well, continues to work during a slower retrieve and does not fall apart after a few encounters with pike teeth.

The flies are available in two sizes. Fish them with conventional fly tackle or with spinning gear and a Cheburashka weight.

What distinguishes our single-hook pike flies?

These are the flies that began the story which eventually led to Pike Terror. The pattern, construction, proportions and tying method were developed and refined long before the brand was created.

One of the key stages was our idea of twisting Nayat (Snow Runner) into a Dubbing Brush —a solution that eventually became a common approach to building large streamers. In the current construction, the brush creates the profile, the longer fibres add length, spring and movement, and our blends of Pike Terror Flash add exactly as much flash as each pattern requires.

With every pike we caught, we became more certain that this was the right direction. The result was a large but lightweight pike streamer that casts well. Regardless of retrieve speed or current strength, it tracks steadily without rolling onto its side or spinning around its axis. It also withstands pike teeth: a dozen or more fish on one fly is not unusual for us.

It soon became clear that changing the hook, size or colour scheme makes the same construction effective for zander, saltwater species and exotic predators caught in the tropics.
