Pomeranian Fly-Tying Workshops are two practical days at tuBaza in Gdynia. We tie flies for different species and skill levels—from the fundamentals and classic salmonid patterns to larger predator constructions. Talks run in parallel, covering tackle and setup configuration, materials and workshop techniques, and on Sunday we hold a Casting Clinic led by FFI instructors.
 

The heart of the event is the Fly-Tying Carousel at the vices: several themed stations and rotations so participants do not remain in one place. In the third edition, the instructors rotate as well, creating more direct contact and more hands-on practice.

This is for you if:

  • you want to start but do not know where to begin,

  • you already fly fish, but information overload and conflicting advice are making things confusing,

  • you want to improve your tying or casting technique,

  • you want to talk with people who fish and tie seriously, including a multiple Polish fly-tying champion and other highly experienced anglers.

Whether you are just starting or have already spent many hours at the vice and on the water, you come here to organise your knowledge, ask questions, clear up doubts and return to fishing with a head full of ideas. This is a meeting of people who are genuinely immersed in fly fishing and pursue it with passion—people who enjoy the same details and can spend half a day discussing subjects that are completely incomprehensible to everyone else. The conversation quickly becomes practical and experience-based in a way that is difficult to find elsewhere.

Programme of the 3rd Pomeranian Fly-Tying Workshops 

This year we are expanding what worked in the previous edition—the station carousel and rotations—and adding new attractions and zones. Robert Tracz will also join us: you will be able to buy one of his books and have it signed. We will revisit historical accounts of fly fishing in the Tuchola Forest and the old concept of “surface fishing”. We are also planning a small fly-tying competition based on very simple recipes inspired by that period. More attractions will be announced soon.

Friday – 17 April (optional start for early arrivals)

18:00–19:00 – Bonfire at tuBaza

An informal gathering for people arriving early who want to begin the weekend calmly and without rushing.
Please note: the bonfire depends on weather and organisational conditions. We will confirm it closer to the date. If conditions are wintry or unsafe, it will not take place.

Gear Zone 

This is a place to examine equipment calmly, cast the rods and compare solutions that are difficult to handle side by side in a physical shop. Taking a selected rod onto the lawns around tuBaza, comparing it with other models and testing it with different line types is genuinely valuable. There will also be a fly-tying materials stand, Wild Fish Stories with clothing from its collection, and a separate stand with more technical Geoff Anderson apparel.

Talks Zone.

Short thematic sessions and conversations about subjects that genuinely save time and money: materials, as well as fundamental and advanced technical aspects of tackle configuration. The detailed schedule and topics will be announced soon.

Please note: the Casting Clinic is planned regardless of the weather. It will be cancelled only in extreme conditions, such as hurricane-force winds or severe storms and downpours.

  • SKM: the nearest station is Gdynia Orłowo SKM. It is then a short walk.
