Black & Gold — Iceland Special
Black & Gold Iceland Special is a small fly for Iceland from our Baby Streamers series, developed with guides and anglers living on the island. The starting point was Lake Þingvallavatn and its genuinely large trout, which can hunt surprisingly small prey.
Black and gold are as old as fishing itself. The dark silhouette is easy to see and the gold flash adds a controlled highlight without turning the fly into a Christmas tree. It looks natural in clear water and remains visible when conditions deteriorate.
Order it unweighted or with 0.6 g weighting, with or without a small Wiggle Tail. Weighting brings the streamer down faster, while the tail creates more movement, especially during a slow retrieve.
Lighter versions have also caught sea trout in Iceland and Argentina, so this is not a fly for one lake alone, even though its story began there.
