Black & Red — Iceland Special
Black & Red Iceland Special is a compact Baby Streamer for large trout, sea trout and other predators. It was developed with guides and anglers living in Iceland, initially for the large trout of Lake Þingvallavatn, but later proved effective on many other waters.
Black and red are an old, proven combination. The dark silhouette remains visible while the red flash adds a controlled highlight rather than overwhelming the pattern.
Order it unweighted or with 0.6 g weighting, with or without a small Wiggle Tail. Weighting brings the fly down faster, while the tail adds movement during a slower retrieve.
Lighter versions have caught sea trout in Iceland and Argentina and have also worked on trout elsewhere. After two seasons of testing, Czarek summed it up simply: “These flies should be banned.”
