Brown Trout SBTH — Articulated Huchen Fly

Brown Trout SBTH Articulated is an articulated huchen fly inspired by the colours of a brown trout, a classic that needs little introduction. Built around our Brown Trout Yellow Snow Runner, it combines a muted yellow body, brown back and subtly lighter belly, completed by characteristic red spots that can make the difference. Alongside the Rainbow Trout pattern, it is one of the most frequently selected flies in our range. The articulated construction adds life and flexibility, creating an even more natural action in current and during a gentle retrieve with pauses. Its restrained colours provoke without looking excessive and have repeatedly proved effective for large trout, huchen and taimen. Weighted versions are available for fast current, deep channels and winter conditions.

Construction and action
 
Despite its size, the fly casts lightly and accurately. It sheds water quickly during false casting and collapses into a slim projectile.
 
In the water the articulated body opens, pulses and moves freely while retaining a stable track in current.
 
The fly looks large but remains light and manageable. It does not require exaggerated animation, although a stronger movement can produce a broad, unpredictable kick.
 
The construction is designed for fly tackle but also works very well with spinning gear, particularly when fished with a Cheburashka weight.
 
It is also an effective pike fly that works straight away, without overcomplicating the presentation.
